We <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">love your stubby bottle!\u201d Don\u2019t get us wrong, we loved our little \u201cstubby\u201d bottles too. It was not a <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">decision we took lightly, so we\u2019ll lay it out for ya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Cans keep kombucha fresher!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Cans do this by limiting a few \u201cspoilers\u201d when it comes to fermented beverages- especially the beneficial <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">living microcosms present in kombucha. The first is ultraviolet (UV) light- while we love it, especially <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">coming off a winter that seemed, to us at least, to be one of the longest ever thanks to\u2026we\u2019ll just say <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">2020 in general\u2026it\u2019s particularly hard on living bacteria and yeast. And let\u2019s face it, for kombucha, that\u2019s <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">one of the main reasons we drink it! It can also lead to off flavors. Nobody likes a skunky booch, uff da! <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">While dark bottles can block some of those UV rays, they can\u2019t block all of it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">The second is oxygen. <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Oxygen can, you guessed it, oxidize booch and beer. Oxidization can lead to off or <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">stale flavors, and we want you to be able to taste our kombucha exactly the way it was intended to <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">taste; crisp, fresh and lively. Cans are filled to the top before the lids are sealed on. No pesky O2 <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">molecules are getting in here!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Cans are easier on the environment.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">How, you ask? <strong>Cans are lighter <\/strong>&#8211; which means they are easier to ship, reducing the fuel impact required <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">to ship them around the country. <strong>Cans are easier to recycle<\/strong> &#8211; typically, most communities have a more <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">robust recycling program for aluminum. According to the EPA, around 65% of aluminum is recycled by <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">consumers (vs 31% for glass), and the average aluminum can contains over 50% post-consumer recycled <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">material. Additionally, around 75% of all aluminum ever produced is still in use today\u2026we like those <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">numbers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Properly portable (and portage-able)<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">With a light at the end of the tunnel for get togethers, or at the very least, increased outdoor activities, <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">cans are much easier to throw in a cooler, pack in, pack out, portage and pop. Cans weigh around 30% <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">less than bottles (7 pounds per 6 pack of glass vs 5 pounds per 6 pack of cans). That doesn\u2019t sound like a <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">lot you say? Let me tell you, when you\u2019re packing a few miles into a camp site, those extra el-bees are <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">going to be noticed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">And lastly,<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Cans are more affordable<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Let\u2019s be honest, kombucha costs a lot to produce, and as a result, is more expensive on the shelf.
