City of Houston – MN<\/span>

In the beautiful Root River Valley of southeastern Minnesota, the City of Houston lies in “the best of bluff country.” The community offers the conveniences of modern life paired with a charming, small-town feel.
 
The area is home to a variety of locally-owned businesses and organizations, an excellent school system, and breathtaking scenery and opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. Because of the beauty of the area, MN Highway 16 has been identified as a national scenic byway.
 
Houston, along with its Trailhead Park, is the eastern terminus of the Root River Trail. The Park is home to a nature center, natural playground, band shell, and sites for primitive camping.
 
Other opportunities for enjoyment in the community include multi-purpose Bluffview Community Park, the International Owl Center, close proximity to golf courses and ranches, and more than a few annual events.
 
As for dining, Houston boasts your choice of bar & grill-style eats, coffeehouse goodies, pizza and subs, and more! Lodging options include a motel in town, cabins and campgrounds, and primitive camping sites.
