\"\"<\/span>M<\/span>cIntosh Memorial Library invites children and their families to kick off the library\u2019s annual Youth Summer Program<\/strong>! Pick up summer reading logs and summer program schedules to see all the fun the library has to offer! <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The library’s youth summer program<\/a> offers educational and entertaining programs for youth ages 0-17.\u00a0 Registration<\/a> is required for some programs, be sure to check the libraries website for details! <\/span><\/span>Starting in June and running through August, every day is something new!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Tuesdays:\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

\u201cBe a Superhero! Viroqua Parks and Recreation Department<\/a> and McIntosh Memorial Library join forces to offer children imaginative and playful classes called \u201cBe a Superhero!\u201d <\/span>Classes will include Superhero Story Times, activities, and crafts and are held at Bigley Park Shelter<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tuesday afternoons the library features events for children ages 6+, each week is something new! Visit the library website for program for details!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tuesdays in August <\/span>from 1:30-2:30pm in the program room the library offers Lego Club! Club meetings will include guided builds and time for free-form building. All materials will be provided. Completed projects will be put on display at the library. Mr. Christopher, Youth Services Associate, leads the club!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Wednesdays:<\/span><\/h4>\n

Toddler Story Times happen every Wednesday. Library staff offer interactive story times with song and dance or relaxed and conversational story circles designed to instill an early love of books and reading.<\/span><\/p>\n

For chess lovers age 7 to adult, open chess play is offered Wednesdays from 4-6 pm. Players are welcome to check out chess boards from the library\u2019s front desk and organize in the Adult Library for game playing. Coaches will be present per their availability. Open Chess is player-driven, community-oriented time to independently organize and play chess!<\/span><\/p>\n

“The Fellowship”<\/span>
Islands of Brilliance<\/a>: Small Group Classes for Those on Autism Spectrum<\/span>
The classes couple a creative hands-on activity with a technology component that helps students express themselves and encourages them to develop positive interaction skills. In addition, attendees will establish connections with peers and mentors in their community, which can help address the isolation that neurodiverse teens and young adults often face.\u00a0 The program runs through September and will be led by a local educator and artist who has been hired and trained by IOB. The class is held Wednesday evenings from 5:30 – 6:30 pm.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/h4>\n

Thursdays:<\/span><\/h4>\n

\u201cTween Leadership Committee\u201d\/T.L.C.\u2019 Meets from 3:30-5 pm. Activities are geared toward ages 10+ the club meets in the library lobby and has a new theme with different<\/span> activities each week. In addition, attendees are welcome to hang out, chat, draw\/color\/art\/crafts, play E rated Switch games, and relax in the lobby and tween space during TLC Meet Ups.<\/span><\/p>\n

Toddler Play Group happens every Thursday of the year from 9:30 \u2013 11:00 am in the Library\u2019s Aviary Seating Area and Program Room. Professional staff from the Parenting Place<\/a> in La Crosse, Wisconsin lead a toddler-aged play group with specifically designed activities which include free-play, crafts, motor skill building activities, snack times and Story Times! Parent Educator, Amber Brantner, leads the group and is joined by a rotating staff of occupational therapists, and parent volunteers.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Fridays:<\/span>\u00a0<\/h4>\n

\u201cNintendo Switch Gaming Tournaments\u201d register to be added to the tournament bracket! You can bring your own Switch consoles, but only the library\u2019s consoles will be used for tournament-play. You can use your own Switch console while you wait for your turn to play. Matches are 3-minutes long, but this can change depending on the amount of people that sign up.\u00a0 <\/span>All games are rated E for Everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n

Read to Win!<\/span><\/h4>\n

Beginning August 1st, youth ages 0-17 can pick up and complete a \u201cRead to Win Reading Log\u201d from the front desk to earn their choice of a free one-day entry pass or one free ride ticket to the Vernon County Fair<\/a>!\u00a0 Total reading time averages 15-minutes a day for 40 days- a total of 10 hours!\u00a0 Reading out loud to young children counts! Audio books count!\u00a0 The last day to submit a completed reading log is Friday, September 13th at 6:00pm.<\/span><\/p>\n

The library<\/a> has entertainment for all ages this summer, adults<\/a> too! Visit them in person or online for the most up to date information and to register for library programs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
