T<\/span><\/strong>he debut of Matchbox Children’s Theatre and Puppet Theatre was in the autumn of 1975 under the wing of the Austin Park and Recreation Department.<\/strong> It was a collaboration of Bill Libby and Janet Anderson, both had theatre backgrounds and were employees of Park & Rec.<\/span>
<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Today, Matchbox Children’s Theatre<\/a> is an independent, nonprofit\"\"<\/strong> organization who’s purpose is to spark imaginations by presenting professional quality children\u2019s theatre on a consistent basis. <\/span><\/p>\n

The theatre strives to create a positive environment for many people to experience live theatre by providing audiences with an artistic and emotional experience they won\u2019t forget. They enhance the experience for audiences by providing the chance for them to interact with the actors following the play.<\/span><\/p>\n

With an ever-growing list of classes, camps, and community partnerships, Matchbox Children’s Theatre provides many ways throughout the year to get involved, on or off stage, but no experience is required! Whether the children or adults in the audiences choose to watch plays or to become actively involved in the productions, a key purpose of Matchbox Children’s Theatre is to create a positive environment for many people to experience live theatre.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
